NATHAN CHAMPLIN Psalm 33:1-3
I was born again in 1993. Before that I lived about as opposite as you can get to a godly life. Sex, drugs, rock and roll- all of which did nothing to fill the void inside myself. I grew bitter, angry, frustrated, and hopeless as the years past by. I started playing guitar when I was 18. I was into all forms of heavy metal. What lives inside that kind of music expressed the darkness that was in my heart. I began to get desperate and fearfull, I felt like I was sliding down a muddy hill into the jaws of hell, and part of me didn’t care. I became suicidal and heard many a demon urging me to my death. That’s when I called on the Name of the Lord Jesus. He showed me how if taking my own life was supremely selfish. How showed me how it would affect those closest to me, I cried out for help and His presence fell like a waterfall around me and through me. I began to weep- pain and hurt I could feel leaving my soul and then I was crying because I felt the love, mercy, forgiveness, and acceptance of God. Things began to change immediately, I saw things that were always there but I never saw before. One of the things I’m talking about that Jesus began opening my eyes to was the Spirit (good) or spirits (bad) that dwell in music. He showed me that as a chef is responsible for the effect his food has on those who eat it- so a musician will be held responsible for the effect his music has on the souls who “eat” of it. This revelation shook me to my core, I knew I was guilty of poisoning people. I asked for the Lord’s forgiveness ,got rid of my two idols (guitars), and cancelled any hope of pursuing playing again. After a season, I received a Word from the Lord calling me to play for Him and not evil. Now ten years later, I have been blessed. The Lord truly has given me the desires of my heart. That’s what we’re all about- Following Jesus and proclaiming the great things He has done in our lives to shine Faith, Truth, Hope and Love into the hearts of those who hear us. God Bless you.
